Over it or just temporary happiness?

Carrying on from my last blog post on my experience with depression and anxiety, i have had a lot of people asking how i got over it. The real fact is it never really goes away, if you really suffer with depression its not like a mood that will just go away when something makes you happy, it kind of lingers and you carry it with you, whenever something goes seriously wrong or something tragic happens your'e more than likely to get that same feeling again. Personally i don't feel as if i will ever allow myself to feel that low again BUT i can't guarantee that i won't feel like that again for sure.

There are many different causes of depression and some people have it for longer periods of time others have it for shorter. Lifestyle, relationships/break ups, the people around you, family members/friends passing away so each person will deal with their depression differently. People often mistake a bad day or a bad week for depression but its not the same.

Although someone may not look like they suffer with depression (as I've been told before) you don't always know whats going on behind closed doors. With me i used to try and hide it as best i could, at work and at home especially.

I noticed a change in myself when i was no longer around certain people that were in my life anymore and also when i started to do things that i like to do like travelling even if its just to another city, it made me happier, seeing friends more often and being around positive people and good energies. I think good vibes are so important for someone going through depression, it kind of puts your mind at ease, negative things only brings negative results so if your around negativity all of the time its not really gonna be any good for the mind.

So whats best for you to do if you suffer with depression?

Everyone is different and like i said earlier on everyone is going through it for different reasons. There are some people that are on Antidepressants for their depression because its so major (My mum did tell me to go to the doctor a few times to be put on these but i refused because they can become addictive and i didn't want my feelings to be controlled by a tablet). Just ask yourself if you can do a few things that make you happy would it help your mind, look at the people around you, do you need to distance yourself from a few people maybe? Do you need to change your job? Your lifestyle...

There's still days when i feel like absolute sh?!t and don't get me wrong if you are a person that manages to get out of their deep state you still will have rainy days, its normal.

Wake up every day and think positive, always try to turn a negative into a positive (although that is very hard to do when you have depression but TRY). Talk to people if you can, sometimes its better if you talk to someone you don't know, their are helplines that will give you support if you need it although personally i would never have the guts to call up a randomer but for some people it actually works.

Over thinking things doesn't help either which we ALL do but sometimes it makes everything seem worse than it actually is. I sometimes over think the smallest things even now and start to panic or get upset over it , it usually happens when i'm alone more than likely at night for me cause i always try to keep myself busy nowadays whether that's being at work or doing something fun.
